Target has many different types of Target scholarships for all grades but the ones directed for college are discussed below. From year to year Target may change whom they choose to direct their Target scholarship money to and when you find out set your aim on trying to get one. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Target they have retail stores all around the world. They are a department store that has it all. They are a successful business. They have taken this success and have given back to the communities over and over again. One way that they have done this is with Target Scholarships. They offer several different Target scholarships to those who meet their requirements. Target has joined forces with other organizations to offer additional finances as well.
Target is education goaled. They push education on the employees in their stores and corporations. They realize that education is the key to success and they do their best to honor those students who and make a difference in the future.
Target has Scholarships of many different kinds. One is called the Target All around Scholarship. This is targeted toward high school seniors and students who are under the age of 24 and who are in undergraduate college. The purpose of the Target All around Scholarship is to honor the student who has the potential of someday being a leader in their community. These students are already beginning to make a difference and Target wants to help them reach that goal. Target focuses on what the student is already doing for their community. They also have to have a high academic record.
Every year Target awards over 2,100 of these Target All around Scholarships. Four of these Target scholarships are in the amount of $10,000. The deadline each year is November 1st for all Target scholarship applications and documents to be received.
Target also has some other Target Scholarships like the CFDA/Teen Vogue Scholarship. This is for students who show remarkable talent for fashion. This is for students who want to attend college and get a bachelors degree in the fashion field. There is a top student honor scholarship that is worth $25,000. Five other students receive a $5,000 Target scholarship.
Target is also involved in the scholarship opportunities in affiliation with the United Negro college fund. The Target/UNCF Community Leaders Scholarship Program awards $5,000 to eight UNCF college juniors that are in need of financial assistance. The criteria for the Target UNCF scholarship is that a student must have a sense of wanting to help their community. Not just a sense but a deep commitment. They also must be enrolled in a UNCF college. They need to have a 3.0 grade average.
Target also supports the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. In order to receive this Target scholarship a student must be Hispanic and a U.S. Citizen. These awards can be anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000.
