Many have not heard of the DAAD Scholarship or the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst unless you live in Germany. DAAD is also known as The German Academic Exchange Service. It is a publicly-funded independent organization of higher education institutions in Germany. They have fourteen offices all over the world. There is one in New York. They help support over 57,000 students and faculty for international research and study. They do this to help tie institutions around the world together. They also want to promote Germany as the place to go to pursue your academic studies.
They have so many different DAAD scholarships to be awarded but we will try and give you a general idea so as not to confuse. First there are the DAAD Undergraduate Scholarships. This is a DAAD scholarship to help those wishing to study abroad in Germany. There are many requirements for this Daad scholarship. One is that you must be a second or third year student. You must be seeking DAAD support for at least a 4 to 10 month period of study. You must be a United States citizen or a Canadian citizen. A student must have a well thought out study, research or internship plans. The DAAD language evaluation form must be turned in. A student must be interested in contemporary German and European affairs. A student will be given a monthly stipend of approximately $863 and health insurance. Applications for next year must be in my January 31, 2011.
There are many different DAAD undergraduate scholarships. These are all in detail on the link that we will provide on the bottom of this page. These are all scholarships pertaining to studies, internships or research grants. Here are a few of the ones we found:
The Study Scholarship from Germany is designed for those students close to completing their undergraduate studies. The monthly stipend ranges from $1,000 to $1,300 for USA students. Deadline is November 1st for those in the music, performing arts or visual arts field of studies. For those outside of these fields; the deadline is November 15th.
The Study Scholarship for Fine Arts, Architecture, Music, and Dance is offered to those completing their graduate courses. The requirements are similar to those for the study DAAD scholarship and the Deadline is November 1st.
The DAAD graduate scholarships are also for studies, research or internships. They even have study scholarships for artists and musicians. Each of these scholarships has different deadlines. They vary with each DAAD scholarship. There are also DAAD PHD scholarships for students wishing to get their PhD’s.
The website that is below will go into great detail about each of the different scholarships. It will tell you where to find the applications and all of the documents that you will need to have with the application. They will also give details on deadlines. The DAAD Scholarship is a great program for any student wishing to study in a foreign country. German universities welcome students from another country. You can receive the knowledge that you need to complete your degree or your thesis in a wonderful country rich in culture.
