Make a difference in tomorrow’s world starting first with these unusual teaching scholarships grants. Becoming a teacher is about the best way to make a difference in a child’s life today. There is no better way to make this kind of a difference than through teaching a young person to read or write and becoming their role modal. But college can be expensive, and sometimes students need a little help along the way. Fortunately, there are a number of unfamiliar college teacher scholarships and teaching grants to make the road to a degree in the educational profession easier.

One popular but unique scholarship for teaching is the Straightforward Media Teacher Scholarship Program. This scholarship foundation offers a free teaching scholarship every three months. Every year, four students receive $500 in financial scholarships for a degree in education. Students interested in pursuing teaching at all levels of education may apply for this scholarship for teaching. Check with the organization’s website to find teacher scholarship application deadlines based on the current date; the deadline dates are January 14th, April 14th, July 14th, and October 14th of each year.

Another excellent unusual scholarship teaching program is the Prezell R. Robinson Scholars Program. Available to students in the state of North Carolina, this college teaching scholarship program targets high school students from low-income school systems who are interested in pursuing a career in education. Those who qualify based on grade point average and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores are eligible to receive a Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan (PTSL).

North Carolina, however, isn’t the only state that has recognized the importance of offering scholarships for teaching who are interested in entering the teaching profession. Officials in the state of New York have founded a program designed to award New York State Math and Science Teaching Incentive Scholarships to eligible candidates. These teaching grants are designed to assist students who are interested in pursuing a teaching career in science or mathematics at the secondary level.

Students who want to apply for the NYS Math and Science Scholarships must be planning to attend a college or university located in the state of New York. They are required to maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and not be in default on any student loan. Furthermore, these eligible candidates must sign service contracts agreeing to work full-time within the state for five years after graduation.

The maximum award offered for these NYS college grants for teaching is $4,375. Students may apply for the next round of teacher scholarships beginning in January 2009. These teaching awards will be paid directly to the school at which the student is enrolled.
