Alabama University guaranteed scholarships grant could be just the ticket for students looking for guaranteed financial aid for attending a university in Alabama. For those not familiar with the concept, a guaranteed college scholarship is one which is not limited in terms of the number given. Also, there are no interviews or requirements regarding an audition, portfolio, essay or competition involved in a guaranteed scholarship.
In order to receive the scholarship or grant, the applicant simply needs to meet the listed criteria and make certain they adhere to the application deadlines established by the college. If they do so and gain admission to the university or college offering the scholarship they will receive the scholarship award money.
Prospective students should note that they will still generally need to meet other minimum requirements in order to renew and keep their scholarships each year. Students should also be aware that many colleges and universities offering guaranteed scholarships will also offer financial aid, grants and other types of awards as well.
Alabama university guaranteed scholarships grants can present and excellent opportunity for gaining financial assistance without the need to endure complicated interviews or composing essays or other competitive application materials. Simply meet the eligibility requirements and you can be assured of getting the scholarship funds.
In order to get a guaranteed scholarship at a university in Alabama you will need to have a high-grade point average and a high ACT or SAT score. Not all universities in Alabama grant guaranteed scholarships. Two of the most well-known universities in the state that offer guaranteed scholarships are Amridge University and Faulkner University. Both of these schools offer room and board to every National Merit Finalist.
In addition, they offer full tuition to semi-finalists as well as $500 scholarships to any students who receives commended status. Furthermore, all high-school valedictorian and salutatorian who applies to these universities will also receive full tuition as well as room and board, provided they have a 3.20 grade point average or higher, 1180 or higher on the SAT and an ACT score of 26 or higher. Students who attended a Christian high school will also receive a 25% discount.
Students who are employed will also receive a guaranteed scholarship from Amridge University. This amounts to a $2,400 award each semester. Students are required to be enrolled a minimum of 12 hours per semester. To retain the scholarship, students must remain employed and be in good academic standing. The scholarship can be renewed for a maximum of ten semesters.
Students living in Alabama may also wish to consider the SAGE Scholarship program. This tuition program provides a partial guaranteed scholarship grant that is issued as a savings bond. It allows families to place money into an account for their students. The SAGE program will then match the investments made by the families. In addition, students will receive a 5% discount on the cost of tuition when they attend any participating Alabama university or college.
Students who are home-schooled and who have at least a 20 on the ACT or a 1020 SAT score will also receive a $500 scholarship award from Faulkner. The university also grants $500 to children of school alumni. Awards of $750 to $1,500 are available to second children from households that are concurrently enrolled. Further award amounts at Faulkner are based upon students’ ACT and/or SAT scores. For instance, while $2,500 to $3,000 is available for students with a 22-24 ACT score or 1030-1130 SAT score, even more is available for students with higher scores. Students who score 25-28 or 1140-1290 on the SAT will receive $2,500 to $4,000. Students that score 29-30 or 1300-1370 on the SAT will receive $5,000 to $5,500.
At Amridge University, students can also receive Alabama guaranteed scholarships and grants based upon their ACT/SAT scores. Students who score between 23-24 on the ACT or 940-10110 on the SAT can receive up to $300 per year. ACT scores of 25-26 and/or SAT scores of 1020-1090 will receive up to $400 per year. ACT scores of 27-39 and/or SAT scores of 1100-1250 will receive $500 per year. Students who score up to 30 on the ACT and/or between 1260 and above on the SAT will receive up to $600 per year.
The University of Alabama also offers Alabama University guaranteed scholarships and grants. For ‘in-state’ students, full-tuition scholarships are offered to students with ACT scores of 30 and/or SAT scores of 1320 (Math and CR) and who also have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
